Brief descriptions of our various positions that are available:
I. Disc Jockey We are always looking for new DJs to introduce new and different music to the
current WRFN program lineup. Please review the current schedule
to see if there are any empty time slots when you would be interested in doing a show. DJs are responsible for programming show content,
recording their show, keeping program logs, reporting to the General Manager and Program Director, et cetera. This is a non-paid position.
II. Sales/Promotions Manager (SPM) It is the Sales/Promotions Managers position to actively seek out sponsors and advertisement for WRFN, both on- and off-campus. Advertisement can be acquired through: 1) monetary donations, 2) free promotional items, and/or 3) reciprocating advertisement. They must then present the information of the potential sponsor/advertiser to the General Manager for approval, create a commercial time slot, and present a completed commercial to the DJs for rotation. They also develop contests, competitions, and/or giveaways in order to create a positive interaction between WRFN and the students, staff, and administration of Northern Kentucky University, as well as the community. Prizes may include free promotional items acquired by the Sales Manager, and contests may include active participation by listeners and may require seeking out eligible participants. All promotional activities and contests must be approved by the General Manager, and they must be appropriate and conform to FCC and WRFN regulations. The SPM reports directly to the GM and the Student Media Director when required. This is a non-paid position.
III. Sales/Promotions Assistant (SPA) These people report directly to the Sales/Promotions Manager. They undertake tasks given them by SPM, including being a street team for WRFN, posting flyers around campus, handing out stickers at school events, looking for companies willing to advertise with us, and arranging for promotional items exchange for free ads. This is a non-paid position.
IV. Newswriter (NW) This person reports directly to the Production Supervisor, and is responsible for a news update every day, or if there are two newswriters they can alternate on days that are convenient with course schedules. News will be due at 9:00 am to be read throughout the day. An update can be done for 5:oo pm and on if staff is so prepared. Keep it brief! This is a non-paid position.
V. General Assistant (GA) These people report directly to the Production Supervisor unless otherwise specified. They assist anyone who needs help at any time. Can help file papers, voice for commercials, fill in program logs for DJs, help with the website, moderate the message board, creative support, etc. Basically anything that needs to be done, if you are available and you have the skills necessary, go for it! This is a non-paid position.
